Steyn Removal

Author: Nick | Filed under: Just for Fun

The people have spoken!  In our latest poll “should Morne Steyn be dropped?’  The fans were almost unanimous in the affirmative.  At the latest count 69 folk want the darling of Loftus out with just 1 person voting for him to stay.  We have our theories as to the identity of the renegade.  Either Heyneke Meyer is a fan of our site or there’s an Aussie in our midst looking to give his team a boost for the next round.

We’ve all seen it……but it’s still funny!

If Steyn does start in the next round, he will kick better because it’s hard to imagine he could kick worse.  The Queenspark model also knows the Loftus ground like the back of Heyneke Meyer’s hand.  However, even if Steyn does play better then that will still not vindicate Meyer’s decision to persist.  The damage has been done.  The Boks are all but out of contention for the Championship title, and so are the Aussies.

It’s still early days but we think it’s time for the The Wunderkind to shine.  The Free State pivot has been blooded and has shown he can do the business both in defense and attack.  Hopefully Meyer won’t stunt his growth with a gameplan containing more kicking than a Kung Fu movie. If Meyer has a 4 year vision (i.e. next world cup…) then surely Steyn cannot be part of that vision? (Unless the vision represents the circus coming to town!) With the Kiwis set to pick up yet another Tri Nations the 1st ever Rugby Championship (history counts for nothing, the scoreboard has been set back to zero!), Meyer has nothing to lose if he plays the Free State barnstormer and if anything he’ll likely earn applause for taking a “risk”.  Even though it’s the obvious choice.

Goosen’s hero is Johhny Wilkinson, a great choice.  The Wunderkind has the potential to emulate his hero, the complete flyhalf who gets injured a lot (let’s hope not).  The Goose won’t get injured because he’s too young, it will be because he puts his body on the line, Wilkinson did it all the time and it affected England heavily when he didn’t play.  When he is fit though, he’ll win you a World Cup.

  2. Don’t look any further Morne Steyn is the one renegade trying to earn his place by backing himself on a poll. He should back himself on a poll so that someone can tie him up and leave him out to dry like he has done with his backline!!!

  3. Ha ha ha, I don’t think he could find his backline if they were standing right in front of him!
